Student Welfare


The college has a Post Graduate Department in Commerce and Research, which is accorded top priority. It offers M.Phil in Commerce (Full Time) and Ph.D. (Full Time and Part Time). Our college has produced hundreds of M.Phil Degree holders. In addition, 12 persons obtained their Ph.Ds. in Commerce and another 20 pursue their researches.

Our Commerce faculty members presented papers on subjects like Commerce, Management Sciences, H.R.D and Organisational Behaviour at National Level Seminars were organised in our college with the help of All India Commerce Association, All India Accounting Association and Universities.

Our Commerce department faculty members prepared and submitted minor and major Research projects fully funded by UGC, New Delhi.
A Counselling session was arranged for Study and Employment Opportunities in U.K. Members belonging to British Council for Higher Education participated.

Eminent Professor Dr.V.S.S.Yadavalli, Systems and Engineering Department of Pretoria University (South Africa) visited our college and delivered Dr.C.L.Metha Endowment Lecture on Research Trends in Economics and Management Sciences.

Refresher courses and programmes oriented towards enhancing the capability of research scholars drawn from city colleges are periodically conducted in our college.

A two day state level conference (March 30th and 31st) on “FUTURISTIC PERSPECTIVES OF COLLEGES OF ARTS AND SCIENCE IN THE GLOBAL SENARIO” along with Department of Education, University of Madras was conducted by the college. About two hundred colleges with 400 participants were benefited by this State Level Conference. A Souvenir containing all the technical papers was released during the conference.


Excellent service is being rendered by the N.S.S. in our college every year, which came in for encomium for in the remote villages. The Aids awareness programme was organised in an effective manner by conducting cycle rallies covering long distances (180 kilometers) touching many villages en route and distributing handbills, enacting dramas and interacting with people. Efforts were made towards stalling mechanical slaughter of animals, conducting First-Aid course with the assistance of St. John’s Ambulance, undertaking cycle rallies to campaign against drug abuse, conducting annual blood donation camp, raising of sapling in and around our college campus and nearby villages, serving as volunteers in the temples regulating crowd, cleaning and sprucing the temple precincts. Our students’ archaeological forays resulted in taking out from the substerrarian region Sivalingam and Vishnu statues which they handed over to the authority concerned.

Our college management constructed and donated an auditorium at a cost of Rs.30,000/- at Government Higher Secondary School, Sholinganallur. A compound wall costing about Rs.25,000/- was constructed for Paiyanur village Panchayat School

Our N.S.S. students spruced up 150 years old temple at Thazambur at a cost of Rs.15,000/-

Our college N.S.S. Programme Officer led the Tamil Nadu Contingent (University students). Our college N.S.S. students participated in Cultural programmes at Kulu, Manali, Kochin, and Tirupathi etc.

Our college played an important role in organising National Youth Festival at Nehru Stadium, Chennai.

The college has adopted Sholinganallur village for all round development. We conducted Medical Camps, Veterinary Camps and Legal Awarness Programmes.


  • Director General N.C.C., New Delhi, Silver Medal Winner 1994-SGT Sakthi Raja.
  • Republic Day-Rajpath Marg March Past: Five N.C.C. Cadets participated in the Indian Contingent on behalf of Tamil Nadu in the years 1992, 1996, 1998, and 2000.
  • Three N.C.C. cadets joined Indian Armed Forces as Army Officers. They are J.Mose, V.S.Ganeshkumar and C.Chandrakanth. One N.C.C. Cadet joined Indian Air Force as Pilot Officer.
  • Major P.S.R.Murthy, NCC Officer, participated in All India Trekking Expedition along with Cadets selected from other States in 1) Saung-Pindari Glacier (U.P) 2) Arunachal Pradesh (Indo Tibetian Border) 3) Sivaji-Pune Trek (Maharastra), 4) Army Attachment Camp with cadets in Army regimental Centres at Wellington, Secunderabad and Saugar.
  • More than 7 cadets joined in CRPF, Border Security Forces and Indian Police Service as Inspectors and Constables.
  • CUO T.S.Narendran attended the Republic Day Camp held at Delhi in 2000-01.
  • CUO R.Nethaji attended the Inter Group Competition held at Trichy in 2001-2002.
  • CUO Anbukannan, Segt.G.Gajapathy and Segt. A.Samarapathy attended the Thalsainik Camp held at Delhi in 2002-2003.
  • Seg.D.Sathya attended the Inter Group competition held at Trichy in 2002-2003.
  • L/CPL D.Madan Kumar attended the Inter Group competition held at Madurai in 2002-2003. L/CPL S.Raja attended the Thalsainik camp held at New Delhi in 2003-2004.


Sadh Bhavana Diwas – Inter Religious Faith Meeting was organised by D.B.Jain College N.C.C. units on the 30th October 1995. Motor Cycle Rally organised by D.B.Jain College N.C.C. unit under the leadership of Major P.S.R.Murthy, N.C.C. officer from Chennai to Kanyakumari covering a distance of 1,100 Kms., to spread the message “National Integration ”. Aids Awareness Rally was conducted and Organised by D.B.Jain College N.C.C. Unit as Social Activity.

Women’s Day:

On 8th march 2007 our institution celebrated the women’s Day which sensitized the women’s role and their rights. Dr.Kamali Shri Pal conducted a women’s counseling programme addressing various issues of women. The girl students shared their thoughts experiences and cleared the doubts.


Well furnished and ventilated class rooms, staff rooms and common rooms.ell equipped Microprocessor and Digital Lab is provided.


To have the spot study of the heritage, culture and national ethos of the people of different states, annual educational tours are arranged for our students. Sometimes our tour extends beyond the shores of India to foreign countries. From 1972 onwards Staff Tour and Educational Tours for students have been organised. Most of the Staff Tours are organised and sponsored by the Management. During the last 32 years several Educational Tours for students and staff have been conducted to various places all over India from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and to foreign countries like Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

DB Jain Faculties organise teaching and research into individual subjects or groups of subjects. Their work is normally organised into sub-divisions called Departments.



Activities is the dynamic center of co-curricular life on campus. We are a student-centered department and are committed to creating a seamless experience.



The Department of Training & Placement of the College was started with the aim of providing opportunities for placement to the students studying in the college.
